After weeks of hard work we arrived at Oulton Park in good spirits. We had nearly finished the R6 and had only The rear TTx Ohlins Shock steering Damper and Stickers to finish, we cant afford the front suspension so were using standard.
Ridgey, Jay and i worked late into Thursday night to be ready for Friday,s Midday free practice. All went well, and Jay enjoyed his First ever dry Session on the bike Finishing 14th Fastest. He felt good with the bike and felt there was a lot of scope for faster times. The main thing was the bike through the speed trap was in the top 15 instead of bottom 5. His Time was a respectable 1.46.9 Just 1.4 sec of the leader having only ridden the bike once in the wet in road set up at Anglesy.
The first Qualifying session was marred by a red flag which seems to happen a lot in this series and by the time Jay came in, some riders were being allowed out again, in the confusion and hurry we didnt concentrate on changes and only had 5 mins left, We should have stiffened the font end, as Jay had started to speed up and was loosing feel from the front. He managed a 1.45.6 still in 14th place but a little further back in time now 1.8 sec of the Leader. After Jay stated " i hav,nt even started to go fast mid corner yet and have loads more to go". Again promising news on the speedtrap front, on the finish line speedtrap Jay was 4th fastest.
All we had to do was sort the front end for the dry.
Second qualifying on Saturday put paid to any chance of a dry set up, possibly the worst day to get anything done, the weather was changing by the minute, never mind the hour. It was terrible we ended up in the wet and nobody went any quicker. And stll no proper set up for the race if dry.
The Race : Jay got of to his first start on the bike dropping one place to 15th but within a lap had got up to 12th, all was looking good when tragedy struck at Island Bend, Jays first major High speed crash since 2005 and first in the dry in 2 years.
The Honda and the Suzuki which hes been riding for 2 years have a very tight short movement Gear selector, The R6 has a load of movement in it ! Hence coming down the gears out of island slowing from 150mph Jay couldt hook up 4th ran out of track and had to ditch at around 130mph.
We had over 30 Guest to come and see Jay that weekend and i thank you all for turning up on such a bad Day, However we must count our lucky stars Jay only suffered a bad beating and maybe a broken rib in his back. It could of been so much worse. The bike looked really bad but under close inspection, not as bad as first expected, still over a Thousand pounds worth but it could of been end of season for us.
Hopefully Jay and bike will be back fighting fit for Knockhill and then he can show just how quick he really is, Untill then hardwork again, no rest for the wicked as they say.
Cheers From

Even though the spray job on the fairings is yet to be completed, the motor is set up and ready to race, We have a lot more power and torque than the honda thanks to a very well known team who i dont know if i can mention just yet, "thankyou anyway".
So all being well, if we can find the money for the suspension, we may have a chance at next weeks Oulton Park BSB meet.
All the Team are feeling positive and can,t wait to put the R6 through its paces.
Hopefully we will be bringing good news to Jays Fans, familly and Sponsors.
Many Thanks for Your Support

After finding out Jay was in the title hunt for the David Jeffories Memmorial Trohy, Currently in 3rd place which is open to all entrants 18 years and under. We decided to head down to Snetterton in the hope that we may be able to get valuble points. We new we were going to struggle here due to the enormous straights, but were not ready for what happened. Firstley being parked up in the middle of a rough field didnt help, especialy having to put the new awning up for the first time, Complements of Mitie Maintenance and The Awning Co.
In first free practice we found our first thoughts to be true, we should of had a weekend out. Jay was 14mph down on the back straight and even though he was very fast through the twisties, again was out dragged up the home straight being overtaken even before he hit the end of pitlane. if you know Snetterton theres stll 1/2 a mile left to lose another 75 yrds.
The same happened throughout Qualifying. Jay had started to struggle with a grabbing front disc, which in the end we decided to switch after Qualifying, by this time it was to late, for the first time in Jays 5 years of riding he failed to Qualify. we were all gutted! 41st fastest 40 on the grid.
From 1st place to 41st was seperated by 1.9 seconds the first 10 by 1 second the next 30 by 9 tenths of a second "it takes longer to say it".Fortunately or unfortunately depending on who you are 2 people were injured during qualifying and we slipped into 39th on the grid, alongside his old adversary Alex Gault on the Astro Kawasaki also suffering the wrath of the R6s, but not quite as badly as the Honda.
We now had the chance of the warm up in the morning to test the changed discs. Immediately Jay was able to brake so much later he increased his straight line speed by 5 mph, still 9 mph down but hey whats 9 mph as they say in Moto Gp ie Stoner Domination. LOL
Before the race i told Jay no matter what happens today, we will be running an R6 at the next Meeting, even if i have to sell my pension! With that Jay felt much more upbeat and detemined that his efforts would be rewarded.
Jay got of to a good start but up hill to the first corner was always going to be hard, the usual bumping and elbows at dawn pursued and luckily most got through. Jay waited for the first attack at corram to make his move, and continued with the same all through the race, only to be passed on the straights.
In total Jay managed to Get up to 25th place, taking no less than 14 scalps on the way, some people he had to pass no less than 3 times, sometimes taking 2 at a time around Coram and through Russells, from the pitlane he looked awesome, i would like to know how he looked from a nearer vantage point. Shaving a full second of his fastest ever time, and within 1.4 seconds of the fastest lap, 17th fastest lap time on track. A Dissapointing possition, an unbelievable effort given the tools at Jays disposal, can we find 1.4 seconds a lap? 14 brake horsepower down and 9 miles per hour and without a slipper Clutch. You bet we can! watch this space!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The 2007 R6 has arrived and its going to Anglesey Tomorrow Yuppee!!!!!
Many Thanks

Team Manager Bespoke Racing UK
DONNINGTON PUTS BESPOKE BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD.
Donnington, a tight, technical track that has over the years produced spectacular motorcycle racing at every level of competition from your average track day through to the blue riband class of the prestigious MOTO GP series.
On arrival at donnington the weather greeted us with its usual un-settled inclement self by not knowing what the hell it was up to! Giving everyone a bloody headache as to set up! Jay took to the track for the free practice session just to get in the zone and get a feel for the track surface. On completion of the session the bike went straight to the ohlins suspension doctor to have its new all singing / dancing 25mm fork cartridge internals fitted.
FIRST QUALIFYING POSITION 20th LAP TIME:- 1:40.570 CONDITIONS:- DRY,BRIGHT.
Jay found it difficult at first to feel any improvement in handling but after pitting, some alterations were made which to Jay felt a lot better. The one thing still very apparent was the 7m.p.h. deficiency to the yamaha’s but Jay was determined and made positive further progress.
MANAGER’S COMMENTS.
After the initial free practice we hardened up the front compression and slowed the rebound. Jay proceeded to make great improvements and qualified 20th only 1.5 seconds off pole, and with still more work to do regarding the front end we were really pleased with his progress.
JAY:- QUALIFYING 1 COMMENTS.
At first I felt very little improvement in the handling to the front but with further adjustment we found that you only need very small adjustment to make the bike sweeter handling, or make it handle like a drunken camel!!! But thanks to my team, the feedback I gave them throughout the session, they soon got to grips with making the changes positive and I ended the session looking forward to qualifying two.
SECOND QUALIFYING, POSITION 15th LAP TIME 2:00.749 CONDITIONS:- RAIN / WET
The day started dry but unfortunately went rapidly downhill from there on in!! The rains came and with it a gusty breeze, but this did not deter Jay in gaining some valuable wet weather testing on a track notorious for its lack of grip!! The initial laps Jay put in saw him getting quicker and quicker, with a pit to give the bike a softer setting on the rear; Jay went out to reduce his lap time to within three seconds off pole in the wet. As the session was drawing to a close Jay was on it for a faster lap but high sided exiting redgate bringing his qualifying to an abrupt end!!
On return to parc ferme both Jay and
MANAGERS COMMENTS
I, along with Mike Hawthorn (Jay’s mentor/mechanical support) witnessed Jays off track jaunt!! But we were really pleased with his overall performance. Coming into redgate Jay picked up on Mike’s comments and tipped in a lot later, giving him much better drive into
JAY:- QUALIFYING TWO COMMENTS
I felt really confident going into qualifying two, even though it was a wet session. With the changes made post qualifying one, the bike handled really well and gave me the confidence to run deeper and brake later into corners!! I knew I had the set up to go faster but was a little too hot exiting redgate and took to the tarmac!! But huge thanks go to Guy and Luigi from RACE BY DESIGN who provided me with my new leathers and helmet set up which performed absolutely fantastic during my spill and suffered only a minor scuff!! Their continuing support is really appreciated, Thanks guy’s.
RACE DAY.
Come the race, due to Jay’s previous days qualifying in the wet, the team were quietly praying for a wet race to even things up in the lack of power department!! But alas even though it threatened, the rain stayed away!! Race was go and jay got off to a good start keeping position but the front six runners were away and soon created a gap. Jay made steady progress lap by lap and ended up finishing in 13th position.
MANAGER’S COMMENTS.
I felt Jay had done well in all departments and given a good performance, but we have now decided to go back to the drawing board, After trying to get the most out of the bike, the conclusion is we need to change the package to give Jay a better chance against the more powerful yamaha’s, how we do this at this present time part way through the season we don’t know, but time is short and various avenue’s are being considered, we have put the Honda package up for sale, even though it is a great machine in the handling department and would be great bike at Club level or changed to super sport spec, in stock spec it lacks to much against the Yamahas. Last year in The European superstocks Jay and Leon Hunt were on the same Honda bikes and were regularly battling for position.
At Donnington
On a Happier Note We now have the new awning fitted to the race truck 7mtrs x 6mtrs twice the size of our current set up which hope fully now, will enable us to entertain our guest in a much more professional manner. This has come about because of Sponsorship from Mitie Maintenance Division in

BRANDS PROVE’S BESPOKE IS UP AGAINST IT!!
On returning to the Brands circuit in far better conditions than previously encountered, Jay was in a positive stance due to his 3rd place qualifying from the abandoned round.
But alas the deficiency in power that plagued the team at oulton again became really obvious that the Bespoke Honda was well down on power to the yamaha’s. During the time Jay was on track in practice and warm up sessions, the timing sheets proved the bike to be over ten miles per hour slower than the stock Yamaha.
Team Manager Steve Dunn.
We have worked extensively trying to improve the power and power delivery in every department that we are allowed to change on the bike, but at the moment our efforts are not good enough and the whole team feel for Jay due to the fact that he is putting in huge efforts to ring every ounce of usability out of a bike that at the moment is not even close to giving the Yamaha a run for its money!!
We have now sought further assistance from the well renowned Nikki Kennedy tuning to try and give Jay a faster bike to work with, Tuning guru Nikki’s first impressions were that the power was not being delivered correctly so went to work on the bike straight away.
After all the amendments were complete, he has changed things round and is now confident that things will be a lot better in the power department for jay.
On the 26th of May this next bank holiday Monday the team will be at the world renowned Donnington Park circuit for the next hotly contested round of the national super stock 600 series so this will certainly be an acid test for the bike on one of the world’s most technical and physically demanding tracks !!
JAY’S COMMENTS.
I know my team have worked really hard to try and give me a bike to be competitive at every round, they have worked tirelessly to improve the bike in every department, and now we have had one of the best in the business, Nikki Kennedy looking at it so I can’t wait to get out there and put the bike through its paces!! I know I have the tools in my talent locker to score regular podium finishes but have been frustrated with the current package but hey!! Hopefully now I can go out and give all my team and sponsors something to cheer about.
Thank you to all our sponsors who continue to work hard for Jay through this, so far difficult opening few rounds of the series, hopefully we will come back to you post this coming meeting with good news!! Also the team are hopeful that at the moment the possibility of further sponsorship may be in the pipeline so will keep you posted.
Stuart Hibbert.
Bespoke Racing P.R.
After a great qualifying posiion of 3rd early at the first round, Jay has been unable to hold position during the race held last weekend.
Even though he had improved on lap times, several riders also increased theres. The biggest problem is when qualifying Jay is able to maximise his superior corner speed to its full, but during race conditions, when everybody is grouped together he is finding the raw power of the other machines especially the Yamahas to great.
They are able to outrun the Honda at every opportunity. This on paper equates to a deficet of 7bhp down on power and almost 9mph down through the speed traps at only 135mph. this is sometimes less at different tracks.
At Oulton park in Qualifying Jay was 51st out of 54 riders through the speed trap yet he managed 9th in the race. Out of the 40 riders to qualify jays bike was last through the speed trap,1.5mph down on 39th place and nearly 9mph down on 1st,
Unfortunately although the Honda is a great handling bike so are the rest. We have inherited the Honda through the unfortunate demise of our relationship with Tena For Men Honda, and would not and is not the chosen bike for many rider in this championship.
We have the bike up at Nicky Kennedy Tuners at the moment whilst he trys to found a bit more performance, this though will be minimum also we have now ordered the Ohlins 25mm cartridge sets for the front forks, though this will help us with handling we are still down a mile on power, legally this gap cannot be bridged and we can only do the best we can on this machine.
Unfortunately after speaking with many renowned tuners and people involved with this championship, the only way to beat a Yamaha is to buy one and with the cost of setting one up being £10,000.00minmum we have no alternative but to struggle on wth the Honda.
Jay himself has lost a little grit because of feeling it is a lost cause, But we know if we can keep his confidence at a high he can still achieve some good results, hopefully being the highest placed Honda in the championship.
We are sorry this may be a dissapointment to our sponsors and friends but thanks to you all.
Thank you for your Support

SATURDAY FREE PRACTICE POSITION 22nd
The first free practice session proved that Jay would be up against it and have his work cut out to stay in touch on an undulating technical Oulton Park circuit. Throughout the weekend it was obvious to Jay and the team that more horsepower was needed to keep with the faster yamaha’s on a predominantly uphill circuit.
With a packed field of machine’s and inconsistent weather throughout, narrowing the racing line to a mere eighteen inches, Jay initially struggled to put in a consistent set of laps to achieve a better position. The first session did however show up a few problems with the bike in the braking and handling departments that gave the team plenty to do!!
SUNDAY QUALIFYING 1 POSITION 18th
After working long into the evening on Saturday, the set changes carried out on the bike helped Jay achieve a better grid position in this session but still the weather and lack of grunt in the bike played its part. Jay’s comments on the session ending proved what the team suspected all along, “I’m exiting the knickerbrook chicane that even if I had another half turn on the throttle it still wouldn’t pull me on to the back of the yamaha’s disappearing into the distance over clayhill to druids!!”
Further changes were made to the fuel mapping to try to give Jay the extra power he needed due to the fact that throughout all the timing sheets jay was well adrift proving that Jay actually achieving his current position was giving well over 150 % in the talent department!!
MONDAY QUALIFYING 2 AND RACE DAY POSITION 13TH !!!
The morning session saw Jay go out on a mission!! The comments made were “right then no prisoners this session” and he was true to his word. He spent the whole qualifying session out on track putting in fast lap after fast lap to end up at the end of qualifying in a very respectable thirteenth on the grid. Team boss steve was mightily impressed with the effort Jay had put in to better his overall position on the grid saying “the boy has done really well considering the odds”
Come the start of the race, Jay fought hard to keep the front end down at the start which showed by his drop from 13th to 17th by the end of the start finish straight!! But again got his head down and went to work in the initial laps picking off rider after rider to gain 15th position until the safety car was brought on due to an accident. Not having experienced safety car conditions before, he left a really nice gap to the rider in front not thinking that by the time the safety car pulled off he couldn’t see it and was left with a huge gap going straight back into race mode!! He ended up finishing the race in a respectable ninth position but learned a lot from only his second race in anger.
TEAMBOSS COMMENTS.
The start gave all of us kittens with a resounding “Jay what the hell are you doing” but fair play to him he did work hard to pull it back to the point where we knew he was giving his all. We tried hard all weekend to improve the bike but alas I guess with the current purse strings being overly tight we will just have to persevere and try to improve what we can, we knew it would be tough this year but hey, that’s racing for you.
JAY’S COMMENTS.
Saturday practice: We set off on a damp track with a dry line, so it was hard to choose tyres at first, but as the sun came out, we knew it was good for dry tyres, i was 22nd fastest, but today was very hard for me, i had just received my new race kit from Race By Design (thank you for your patience Guy) so had to make this session a test as well as a free practice, the leathers felt great, but we had a few small issues with the helmet and we lost track time, so it was hard to really get a grip on the track and the set up"
Sunday1st qualifying : Again the weather was in a state of confusion, with the track drying, so I went out and qualified 18th "this session was a nightmare”, I had real problems with brake fade and couldn’t stop the bike, that being said, I was happy with 18th and looked forward to Monday as the weather is looking good and I knew I had more speed"
Monday 2nd Quals: the morning the weather was better, and my team worked hard to improve things, we had a good set up and I was ready to roll, this session was very important, as I knew how hard it would be to battle through the pack. We had put a water pack in my hump so I could take water without going in the pits, I really wanted to do a fast lap, but every time got stuck in traffic!!, so when I dropped back, someone would exit pit lane!! Eventually I put an average lap in, that put me in 13th, I was happy with the time but, 4th row on the outside was a bad spot to be."
Monday Race: all was ready to go, so it was up to me: I got the worst start ever, wheelie after wheelie, and I dropped to 17th, so I knew I had to grit my teeth and started digging deep. I was in 15th before the safety car came out, and was ready for a good rumble, but, being my 1st safety car experience, I really messed it up, and had a 2 second gap to make up, I put my head down and went for it, I passed a few and a few unfortunately fell off, and so found myself in 9th place with 2 options, chase down 8th 3 seconds adrift, or stay where I was and pick up valuable points, I made the decision to stick with it as my tyres were getting shot and arm pump started to increase, I took option 2."
On behalf of the bespoke racing, the team would like to give special thanks to Guy from RACE BY DESIGN for his patience, time, and effort in assisting Jay with all his new gear that they have provided, and to Mark from the MITIE GROUP for his generous donation that will prove invaluable to the team, and for turning up to this round and giving Jay his support a big thank you to you both .
Also big thanks goes out to all Jays supporters from the jubilee pub and restaurant who came to oulton team handed to cheer him on and all family and friends who did the same. Thank you to you all.

Firstly can I give my sincere apologies to all sponsors regarding the past events at the thruxton circuit. I unfortunately had a fall fracturing my face in three place!! Anyway……
This was to be Jay’s first real test under race conditions at the fastest circuit in the country where horsepower rules!! With intermittent weather during qualifying, Jay struggled to get to grips with the long, fast, abrasive track.
He only just managed to qualify in fortieth position in the dying seconds of the last lap which ended up a real wakeup call for all concerned. The end result was Jay started on the grid dead last for the coming race.
By the end of the first couple of laps, Jay had blitzed his way to a very respectable 20th position but then had a few seconds gap to reach the next machine in front. He fought hard to close the gap, only for the race to be red flagged at lap ten.
JAY’S COMMENTS.
I felt lucky initially to even be on the grid after a pretty poor qualifying but after making changes to the set up the bike felt a rode a lot better. I tried my level best out there to make up places and past a lot of riders in the initial laps. Unfortunately I ran out of laps due to the red flag but felt confident enough to maybe get in the points, but at the end of the day I have to be happy with the result I achieved.
STEVE’S COMMENTS.
Initially the team were worried that the boy wouldn’t qualify, but after a gentle (not) talking to when he pitted, fair play to Jay he went out and did qualify just!! During the race though we had to take our hats off to the boy he set off like a man possessed!! And Jay did the business to achieve a solid 20th position in his first real race of the series. I know he will do better at the next round.
Dear All,

On Behalf of Bespoke Racing Uk and Jay Dunn
Recent Article from Stockport Express Many thanks to Simon Smedly on a lovely report, we will be Feeding Simon updates after every Meeting and should be in the paper regularly keeping our Cheshire Base Fans informed
Racer Jay eyes success in series Simon Smedley 9/ 4/2008 SUPERFAST teenager Jay Dunn is looking to further increase his rapidly growing profile this year by becoming a success in the 2008 British Junior Superstock 600 series.
Superbike prospect Dunn, aged 18, has already enjoyed a positive testing weekend at the new Ty Croes circuit in Anglesey having initially spent time in Almeria, Spain, during the winter months.
However, in the opening round of the Superstock championship - which forms part of the hugely prestigious British Superbikes set-up - at Brands Hatch last weekend, Dunn qualified in third place but then could only watch on helplessly as Sunday’s race day was abandoned due to snow.
Dunn, who lives in Romiley and is studying graphic design at Stockport College, has already tasted plenty of success in the highly-charged world of motorcycle racing.
He has already won the ACU Under-23s GSXR Cup series and finished third in the ACU Open championship, where he was racing against much more powerful 1,000cc machines.
Last year Dunn also raced in the European 750 GSXR Cup and represented an Italian team in the European Superstock 600 championship. All in all a bright future could potentially beckon for Bespoke Interiors-sponsored Dunn as he continues to charge round some of the biggest and most famous racing circuits in the UK, but just getting himself out onto the track in the first place can be a hugely expensive business.
Dunn and his father Steve would love to hear from any potential sponsors out there, so if you are in a position to help, please contact Steve on 0161 343 7972 or 07966 364351. Alternatively you can email Steve at: bespokeinterior@btconnect.com. Check out Jay Dunn’s website at: www.jaydunn.co.uk
BRITISH SUPERBIKES ROUND 1:
Previous to the weekends events at Brands the team completed its objectives in good time, still positively optimistic after the pre-season successes under testing and racing conditions at Anglesey.
All sponsor graphics were applied to the newly painted race fairings and fitted to the bike, and quite frankly it looked absolutely stunning!! This was now the time to show what team Bespoke Racing and more importantly what Jay is all about.
We arrived early evening at the renowned Kent based circuit to find a busy paddock with an air of expectation in everyone for the weekend’s events.
FRIDAY FREE PRACTICE:
Jay having already experienced the Brands circuit had a good base setting and set out on a mission putting in extremely good lap times and was currently running second fastest before pitting due to an engine problem. The team immediately went about attempting to correct the fault but was unable to find anything. Jay left the pits with a red mist rapidly descending only to push harder and set fastest lap after fastest lap until again the bike suffered problems. Jay was disappointed having to miss the last few minutes of the session due to the faults. He ended free practice in third position, only being bettered in the last couple of minutes.
QUALIFYING 1: FRIDAY
The time between free practice and qualifying 1 the team worked extremely hard on trying to cure the problem but to no avail, so Jay had to take to the track as it was and ride as hard as the bike would allow. In the first four laps Jay achieved second fastest once more having to pit due to the problems that had occurred throughout the day. As time ticked by Jay dropped to seventh place before again taking to the track more determined and frustrated, he got his lap times down ending up third fastest after completing only ten laps.
QUALIFYING 2: SATURDAY
The Bespoke Team spent the remainder of Friday and all of Saturday attempting to find the fault affecting the bike, with just 40 minutes left to the start of qualifying 2 the last dyno run proved the bike was once again at full power. Only one lap into the session the rain and hail that was forecast duly arrived. Jay immediately pitted for his wet set up but throughout the short remainder of the session was unable to better his previous days lap time. Post qualifying the team eventually found the underlying problem was a secondary injector had not been working correctly which impressed the hell out of all the team due to the fact that Jay had qualified in third position running on only three cylinders!!!!!
SUNDAY: RACE DAY
All of Brands Hatch woke up to a winter wonderland of heavy snow. Throughout the morning well into the afternoon the weather worsened and alas the decision was made to cancel the meeting. In the light of all this, Team Manager Steve Dunn and his band of hardened warriors (three in all) wasted no time in walking the main pit lane and creating an inter-team snowball fight of world war 3 proportions!!. After holding our own at the start of the fight we were eventually out gunned and out of ammo, so made a hasty escape onto the track at clearways where we built a snow marshal, then carried on with the snowball fight with a small crowd of expectant spectators.
Throughout the weekend the team received many accolades ranging from other teams in the paddock and from the public in regards to how professional and good looking the Bespoke set up was, with some actually discussing further sponsorship, so in the coming weeks and months we will keep you updated on the website.
The Brands meeting has now been rescheduled to take place on 10th and 11th May 2008, so…..Bring on Brands!!!....Again!!
Jay’s comments:
The bike was so inconsistent that I was sure it had suffered an electrical fault. The bike would work fine for three laps or so, and then just as I was getting used to it would go mad and lose power!, It was a shame about the bike but it was the result I was looking for. A front row start is just what I and the team needed in our first British Superbike Series. I would just like to say a big thank you to my team for their efforts and hard work in giving their all to correct the problem we had.
Steve Dunn, Team Manager:
Overall, I felt Jay had done exceptionally well in his first outing in the British Superbikes Series. He showed exceptional maturity in his efforts to secure his third position and showing that even when running with a faulty machine he can still dig deep to overcome this and run at the front, this also gives the team space to give the bike a thorough inspection in preparation for the next round at Thruxton.
Jay's new flyer is off to the printers, you can see the new design in the gallery, and keep an eye out for it at race meeting's.
Remember the soul purpose of the flyer i to generate sponsorship, so if you find us at bsb, please take a few flyers, and hand them out to anyone who may be interested in the opportunities we have to offer in a sponsorship deal with Bespoke Racing.
Thanks Jay and Steve Dunn
After a very positive testing weekend at anglesey, carried out under test and race conditions, the bespoke team left Anglesey in in high spirit and feeling in good shape for the coming season.
Jay, on the return from Almeria testing was in a very positive mood to carry on getting himself into race mode and finally rid himself of the "winter cobwebs". Indeed the whole team, being the first time working together functioned exceptionally well and was on the whole well organised.
Team manager Steve, was over the moon with Jay's continuing progress taking up where he left off in Spain, from the start setting some blistering lap times from day one testing right through to race conditions on Monday. Mike Hawthorne (Jay's head mechanic) Who had given the bike a thorough testing and set up programme previously in Spain, commented on how initially good the Honda package was from the start regarding the mid range and top end power of the bike and feels sure that with only minor modifications would make the overall package even better for the coming season.
Speaking with Jay after his four very impressive race wins, said "He was glad to be back on the bike and that his winter training programme had gone really well and was feeling in good physical health". He also commented on how good the bike feels saying "the power, handling and braking is smooth and linear which results in awesome feedback, giving me the confidence to try many different lines into the corners even against the more powerful 1000cc bikes I competed against in the powerbikes class.
Needless to say Jay is in high spirits for the job ahead. Also a BIG thankyou goes to all our sponsors who continue to pull and work hard to ensure Jay remains one of the top runners for the coming season and keeps him in the hunt for podium finishes hopefully culminating in him being crowned junior superstock champion.
Stuart Hibbert Bespoke Racing UK PR.
Fortunately, the weather was better at Anglesey, We had strong winds and some rain on Saturday and sunday, but sunny spells on monday.Over the saturday and sunday we spent many productive hours testing and setting up the bike for the qualifying and races
Qualifying: We had entered into both the powerbike class and the supersport 600 class and carried out both qualifying sessions in the morning, but due to destroying 3 rear tyres over the previous 2 test days we had to do the qualifying sessions on used tyres, this did not stop me qualifying 2nd in the powerbikes and 1st in the SS 600.
POWERBIKES RACE1: Hidden within the deepest depths our garage we found a set of slick tyres that i knew I would be able use in the powerbikes race, so we whipped them on and went for the race. I got off the line in second place and held it to the back straight ,where i was inevitably passed by the superior powered R1's and gapped, but i left my braking to the very last moment and kept right on the tails of the front runners. I could see the obvious silly agression in the 2 riders in front of me so i took a step back to watch and wait for my chance. It came 3 corners later where unfortunately they both collided and handed me the lead, so i got my head down pulling a small gap before the race was red flagged. The restart saw me on pole and the race reduced to 6 laps, i went for it and pulled a 2 second lead by lap 3, BUT, due to the stoppage, a cloud had covered the whole circuit and started to rain, and bieng on slicks i had to ride defensive and gingerly. On the last lap i was passed on the back straight by a GSXR 1000, but with the red mist down i passed him back immediately on the brakes and held it to the line, I was very lucky because the rain started barreling down when we finished.
SUPERSPORT 600 RACE 1: Having no tryes left we had to buy a brand new set of metzelers for this race, but lack of time saw me go to pole with minimal heat in my tyres, a ginger warm up lap to scrub them in just wasnt enough and i dropped to second on lap 1 of the race by my fellow superstock rider johnathon lodge, but once the tyres warmed up i re-gained the lead and pulled a 2.5 second gap which i held to the line.
POWERBIKES RACE 2: Winning the 1st race set me pole for this one but i knew i had my work cut out with Johnny getting faster by every race, i held the lead untl lap 5 when he came through on the back straight using the renowned power of the R6, we had a good close elbow to elbow battle up to a back marker where i made my move into the lead and held it to the line for victory number 3.
SUPERSPORT 600 RACE 2: A new tyre again for the last race where winning was the only option. Off the start the surprising kwak of Walker (a veteran of this club) took the lead, knowing i wanted to get through he took tight lines making it hard to pass for the first lap, but after watching his lines just went for it on the outside down into the corkscrew, and then it became a qualifying session, braking the lap record 3 times in a row, eventually setting a 1.11.5. I held the lead and won the race, but with johnni passing Walker and chasing me, the last lap saw him take the lap record away with a 1.11.25, a bit of a dissapointment to me but fair play to johnny, 1 fast lap doesnt win a race but will give him some consolation. But the quadrupal win was mine! Thanks to my dad for taking me there (watch your head), Arron haywood my mate for sticking it out (MY B*****Y FEET), Ridgy for setting the rear shock, (Cummon where's the brewing tackle) and Stu for mentoring me ( Theres only 1) thanks a bunch guys. Jay
Team bespoke racing are glad to inform you all, of a great success at the almeria circuit this weekend. Day 1: After setting an average lap time here in 2007 of 1.47.4, we were hoping to improve on that by the end of day 1, and with better tyres we were able to drop straight into the 46´s, setting a lap of 1.46.3. Jay: "I took some time getting back into riding as i have not ridden since october but the bike was very forgiving, and i was able to gel almost immediatly, its been a great day, and with more improvements to the bike we can go much faster".
Day 2: This day started a little cold, but the sun was coming up fast, and Jay was ready to go. a few changes had been made to the data of the power commander to improve drive, and yet again we improved on time setting a 1.45.8. later in the day, new tyres were introduced and the times dropped again to a 1.45.3. Jay: "The improvements made yesterday were more on handling so i was more comfortable, now i am used to the bike we were able to work on power, and the changes in the fuelling allowed much better drive onto both straight's giving me better chance of improving my lap times".
Day 3: After buying some new tyres in the morning we knew we would be able to drop the times massively, after 2 sessions we slung the new one in and with some words of wisdom from our mechanic, Mike Hawthorne, we dropped to a 1.44.8, with traffic on every lap but 1. Jay entered the pit lane complaining of front end grip without realising his time, Jay: i was gobsmacked when i saw the board, i didnt realise i had put that time in, with the problems i was having". After dinner, Mike softened the front fork rebound to settle the front end and setting the tyre pressures properly, (5 pound out) Jay reached a 1.44.4 best time, consitently around 1.44.7 - 1.45.3, and that was a great weekend´s work!
Jay:"because the front felt so much better, i was riding the rear so hard, 43s were possible, but it was not worth an accident and i was happy with the result."

After a long hard season jay received his Winning bike last saturday, after winning the ACU under 23s GSXR Cup Championship. It had been a great series, well run, great friends made and to keep forever, and to race again in the future. Jay also came second oveall unfortuneatly after his dnf at Croft Circuit his fave track and was looking like greatest performance of the year, until the heavens opened and everybody got there first taste of wet riding on dry tyres, possibly our only gripe about the series WET TYRES are essential to any riders progress and actually saves money in the long run. Any way the bike has to be sold, it can be seen in the gallery have a rad in there and give us a call if your interested. Good Luck to all GSXR cup Boys next year
ps Mike Tanousis i still owe you for handlebar, anybody in touch with him tell him to leave us a message.
This is a long letter but we are sure it is a good Read......
WELCOME to the £1 future stars fund.
Firstly on behalf of Steve Dunn, Stuart Hibbert & our team. We would like to thank you for taking the time to visit this web site.
Whether you are a potential star of the future, a track day enthusiast, a biker who just rides for pleasure,
a bike commuter or just a race day spectator and fan.
But a very warm welcome to all.
Our sole aim of this fund is to give special and deserved opportunities to all of this nation’s young un-tapped special talent that will one day see a young British motorcycle racer lift the most coveted title in motorcycle racing………
The Moto G.P World Championship.
And fill race track grids the world over with many
talented British racers.
For many years the British biking public have asked, “When will we produce someone good enough to go and beat the rest of the world”
This is a Sport that in the national press today is given very little coverage, but go back to 1976, 1977 and 1978, one man completely
He gave us a sense of national & international pride that is sadly missing from bike racing today and gave every policeman an excuse…… “who do you think you are then…… Barry bloody Sheene” !!!!
But let us say this;…. it is the intention of the £1 future stars fund to
You’re now probably thinking we’ve lost the plot!!!, but bear with us a little longer.
Let us give you some background and vision as to what this fund is all about and how it is designed to a
Many of our talented youngsters who are more than qualified to further their careers as racers get so far into their careers only to find a huge stumbling block at a critical part of their development…. FINANCE!!!
Many have huge talent but not bottomless pockets to be able to fund just from family, friends and local small businesses the astronomical and ever increasing costs that are involved in making the necessary step even to B.S.B. then at this point their dream ends. Only for them to seek everyday employment and spend their working lives only dreaming what might have been.
The £1 future stars fund is solely designed to ensure they do have the finance to take the next all important steps. By whi
How this fund will work
If every one who is passionate about motorcycle’s and motorcycle racing donated just one pound (potentially 10 to 15 million people) would enable the fund to finance potentially the top 50 to 100 talented youngsters to experience essential testing and development skills thus enhancing their ability resulting in a full time racing contract.
Other fund raising areas will include putting just £1 on the price of a track day whi
The fund would be proportionally divided equally between the prospective candidates to ensure a level and consistent fairness that no single candidate would receive preferential treatment. ALL the racing clubs in the country would be contacted and asked to nominate their top five most talented riders to be assessed. Upon successful assessment they would then receive the necessary funds to enable them to rea
When you consider this would happen year on year just in 5 years time how many potential stars would we have in the top flight !!!!
Please Please Please….. give this fund your support then one day you can stand up bursting with pride and say “ we made this
Thank you for taking the time to support what we feel is essential to ensure the growth and security of what we consider one of this country’s national treasure’s
I would like to say many thanks to everybody who is taking the time to find out about this The £1.00 Future Stars Fund, All that is being said at present is to generate interest and feedback and when we are certain the time is right and everything is in place we will then go live. I am working on the structure and this will posted shortley.
THE FUTURE STARS FUND?
I will start with a question...... How many of you out there that first had a passion to ride a motorcycle had the very first thought....... "I could be the next”....... Duke, Hailwood, Ivy, Read, Ago, Sheene, Parrish, right through to Jefferies, Mcguinness, Toseland or Rossi to name but a few. We have all had that dream.
To all of you that now love motorcycles and motorcycle racing, even those of you who use a motorcycle or scooter to commute, Could one day be standing as one to applaud a British world champion that you personally helped and assisted in putting them on the top step of the podium.
An impossible dream I hear you say…… NOT SO PEOPLE !! One day we will gladly turn around and say “no” it has been your efforts that has put them there so Thank you!!!
THE £1 FUTURE STARS FUND?
What’s this then?....I hear you say. I say to all who reads this, It is a dream, a thought and a discussion that took place over a pint at a local bike meet, that has grown into the people involved wanting to give something back to the sport that over the years has given so much to those with a passion. The expectation, the highs, the lows, the excitement and the grief and the local weekly bike meets where the previous weekends racing is so passionately discussed, taken apart bend by bend, gear by gear and due acclaim given to the victor.
A QUID!!!!! What does that get you these days, A can of coke and a bag of crisps, I was going to say flowers for your partner when they ask “where the hell have you been?!?” or “how far away is that bloody shop?!?”, when you have just nipped out on your bike. But a Quid wont by you flowers now!!! Not even a last stop petrol station bunch.
A QUID!!!! Wouldn’t even buy you a pack of condoms even if they did believe you!!
A QUID!!! – What could a quid buy? A loaf of bread, a pint of milk, tub of butter, British Superbike Champion? World Superbike Champion? Moto GP Champion?
THE LAST THREE FOR A QUID???? – BOLLOX I hear you say. Our efforts will become reality not bollox people.
The One Pound Future Stars Fund is exactly what it says, if all the biking public in the country donated just one pound it would enable us to finance the top 20 most talented youngsters in the country to achieve their dreams of one day becoming Moto GP World Champion, and then for them to turn round and say Thank You to all the British bikers and British public who helped him or her to achieve their ultimate dream.
But it doesn’t end there, this fund will be on going year after year, the fund would carry on financing the best young talent
SO WHAT COULD A QUID BUY THEN?? If your passion is as deep and strong as ours it could buy you the satisfaction of seeing the next British World Champion. (this one day could be your son or daughter).
So the next time you visit your local bike dealer, bike meet, track day, club day, race day talk to the people around you and please give this fund your support and ideas whether positive or negative and feed them back to us. Thank you for taking the time to read this statement.
PLEASE…. Don’t do anything now !!!!!
At this moment in time we are currently in talks with the registered charity commission, Bike Sport News, MotorCycle News, Motorcycle Monthly, Brands Hatch Racing. And in the near future will be contacting all the major motorcycle publications i.e. Fast Bikes, Superbike, Two Wheels Only to name but a few. So Please keep watching this space for regular updates!!!

I have spent the best part of today talking to Shaun from thebikerplace.com, He has invited Jay to become a member of there Column of riders Listed as The Future,
We are very honoured to be included in there website and have total admiration for this particular Feature. I myself felt maybe there was more that could be done about the lack of funding in Great Britain for Riders that are showing a serious talent but who sometimes never make it because of lack of funds.
How about this We create a Future Stars Sponors Fund put an Article in every publication (i know this is ambitious but would anybody turn it down we all have the same common goal) about biking in great Britain ask for a donation from every Biker in the Country if we only got £1.00 of everyone we could fund the top ten riders chosen by a panel? maybe more if you look at the Maths £1.00 from 1 milion bikers is £1,000,000.00 divide that by an average top ride of say £40,000.00 = Twenty Five top riders being helped to become future World stars, isnt that what were all moaning about, that we havent got any enough champions, all this for the cost of £1.00 each or more whatever the donation, im getting exited what do you think, I know there is a logistics problem but if arranged and created properly this could work.
At the moment i am having a counter put on jays website so we can analise how many hits we get we are also adding a guest book for peoples comments and messages all good i hope lol. Our Mechanic Mike Hawthorn added to this idea and said what about putting a little collection box with a flier in every Motorbike related shop who may be interested here shoppers put in some small change if they feel its a worthy cause, this is all quite easy to sort if we can get enough heads together, i dont want to hear any negatives to all this just the positives.
If you visit Jays site and feel strongley about this idea please Email with your thoughts between us we can make this happen. To anybody who visits our site i woud be very grateful to hear your thoughts, please email me on bespokeinterior@btconnect.com. Many thanks to all taking time to read this article.
Along with many other riders, we recently received an application form from the ACU, inviting all youg riders from the age of 15 to 23 to apply for elite membership into the ACU Academy. They received over 60 applicants of which, one was Jay. We are very happy to confirm that Jay had been shortlsted to the final ten and that we have been to Rugby ACU Headquarters this weekend and have received a positive feedback after a friendly interview with the ACU panel. We now await with anticipation to see whether Jay has been accepted into this very select few.
There have been some very prominent stars to come from the Academy, Tom Sykes, Cal Crutchlow, Craig Jones and more recently Bradley Smith, as you can see from this list to be included into the Academy would be a great honour, and one that Jay would make full use of the opportunity.
Please watch this space to find out the outcome., we should find out in a couple of days.
Many thanks Steve Dunn
I hearby announce that i will be riding in the british superstock 600 class for 2008.
Unlucky:
The original plan for 2008 was to ride in a team with Suzuki under the name of Road and Racing, although due to a lack of team sponsorship i will no longer be riding for them.
On the other hand:
Michael Howarths New BSB Team was always were Jay wanted to ride for 2008, and after a few discussions, we agreed and happily signed up, Jay will be riding new 2008 Honda CBR 600 RR Machines, that will be fully prepared allowing me to be a serious contender of the all new British Junior Superstock class.
Past history:
The team was founded/created in 2004 by Michael himself when i became a top contender for the new era sound of thunder championship were he finished 3rd with many race wins, due to the 2004 result the team moved to the british paddock in 2005 to contend in the superstock cup were 'Howie' finished 10th overall. When 2006 arrived Team Howarth Racing took out the big guns and entered as a privateer in the infamous British Superbike Cup, Top 3 results saw the team take two new, very well equipped Honda's for 2007 were They would reign supreme taking the championship with rider Tristan Palmer.
Me and the Team:
Back in 2006 me and my father met Howie at silverstone race circuit were he was testing for superbikes the following weekend, i was struggling and he gave me a few tips and from there we kept in touch.
January 2007 we recieved a phone call from mike asking if we would like to join them on a testing weekend in spain and we jumped to the chance, from then on we grew closer as friends and now im riding for the team, i am very much excited about the prospects of 2008 as i know i work well with the team. My only worries are with the bike itself as i rode a honda in the european and they do not seem to be as competative as the yamaha's or the suzuki's, but i am sure that with the right kit and set up it will be the bike to beat, i sure am fired up for testing and cannot wait to meet up with the team for my first session.
Sponsors:
The team already has main sponsors but are always in need of more, i myself need sponsors and also need sponsers to take to the team and pay for my ride, if any companies etc wish to contact please do,
we would be greatfull, Jay Dunn
hi folks please note the email addresses now listed are where you can contact either myself or jay.
Also it looks like we will be testing with Mike Howie and the MHR team in Almeria as we did last year
hope the weather is as good as well. We should be spending 3 days on track around the 23rd to 25th
of February.
Decisions, decisions, decisions.
Although a decision has been made as to the plans of jays wereabouts in the 2008 season, it certainly hasnt been easy, first of all i would like to say thankyou very much to our friend and main financial sponsor this year Richard Baker, we are also very sorry we arent joining Beowulf in the European superstocks, we wish you all the best of luck next year and hope maybe we can be part of the team in the future.
Offers from both the british and european paddock have been received, and after extensive analysis of our options, we are glad to announce we will be staying in britain for the 2008 season.
We will be competing in the british junior superstock cup on a suzuki gsxr 600 k8, as a privatier team, with RR Suzuki team, running out of Road and Racing in Hyde, Cheshire, We are very pleased to be riding with Roger Sandoe and co and hope next year will be as succesfull as last year. If you requre any help finding a new or used machine, you will find Mark or Rodger extremely helpfull and would love to assist on Phone No 0161 366 5167.
We are in need of a leading sponsor and are busy trying to achieve this as you all know this is not an easy task, but with Jays results in 2007 we are hopeing this should become an easier job. We sincerely hope that any companies or individuals that would like to be involved would get in touch, we would be most greatfull,
thankyou,
Jay and Steve Dunn.
